Composite transparent inspiré de la toile d’araignée pour absorber un impact!

Le dernier papier de Shibo Zou, étudiant au doctorat, est publié dans Cell Reports Physical Science!
In it, Shibo shows how a fluid-mechanical instability can be used to microstructure fibres with a 3D printers, and how when printed with polycarbonate, these fibers can be embedded in a transparent impact-absorbing composite. Because the fibers loop and fuse onto themselves while printing, they require a lot of energy to break Check out a 1min39s video summary of this work below.
